THE 31ST ANNUAL PLAYBOY JAZZ FESTIVAL LINE-UP ANNOUNCED! - Feb. 26,
2009
Most
people never get to hang out at the world famous Playboy Mansion. Yet,
several of our Los Angeles Latin Jazz and Salsa musicians just did on
Wednesday, February 26, for the presentation of the line-up of the 31st
annual Playboy Jazz Festival, which will be held at the Hollywood Bowl
on June 13 and 14, 2009.
Present as well were the
festival’s Executive Producer Hugh Hefner, music icon Quincy Jones,
renowned artists, such as Kenny G and Wayne Shorter, and a variety of
media.
A free community concert
series was announced for the month leading to the festival. Dimelo!
Records recording artist, Johnny Polanco, will perform in Beverly Hills
on May 3, and the Susie Hansen’s Latin Band will perform in Woodland
Hills.
Within the artists
scheduled at the Bowl are the Pete Escovedo Orchestra, Cos of Good Music
featuring Luis Conte, Oscar Hernandez, and the highlight of the event,
Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez, a newcomer to Los Angeles and young
prodigy in his twenties presented by Quincy Jones as “the pianist with
the potential to be a most prolific artist” from here on. Young talent
will be also underscored with the participation of the North Hollywood
High School Jazz Ensemble and the Los Angeles County High School for the
Arts (LACHSA) Jazz Ensemble.
Within very recognizable
Playboy Mansion’s grounds - thanks to reality television -, an open bar,
the music of the LACHSA Jazz Ensemble, and a performance by Alfredo
Rodriguez, the Playboy Jazz Festival kicked into gear its efforts for
2009.
