ALEXANDROS - THEATER PLAY AT THE LAGUNA BEACH PLAYHOUSE - ongoing until June 29th, 2008

OPENING GALA WITH ADONIS PUENTES - June 1st, 2008

Alexandros is a two-hour theater play currently presented at the Moulton Theater, in Laguna Beach, and until the end of this month.   It is the creation of Cuban American playwright Melinda Lopez, and it is performed by five bilingual and accomplished actors - Maria Cellario, Catharine Luckinbill, Chaz Mena, Saundra Santiago and Kevin Symons.

Alexandros is set in Miami, in 1974, in the home of an exiled Cuban family.  While the dialogue will be understood by any English speaking person, it will become particularly enjoyable to the bilingual audience, with its many hilarious insertions of Cuban vernacular.  Alexandros is a comedy, at times, truly hilarious.  However, amid the humor, the play touches on serious political, familiar, and life style choice issues.

For the enjoyment of the Cuban music lover, the play opens up with Celia's Quimbara in the background, and the characters do a dance step or two in the course of the play.  It is enjoyable, relatable, and a recommended "to-do" for this month.
