SALSA DANCING IN ARIZONA

Scottsdale, AZ

Arizona is not that far away, just five and a half hours from L.A.

Just ten or fifteen minutes from Phoenix, there's a town called Scottsdale.  Pepin [http://www.pepinrestaurant.com/ ], a Spanish restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale, has Salsa both on Friday and Saturday.

I was there on a Friday.  DJ Ramiro played a mix of Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Cha-cha-cha, Reggaeton, even Punta.  Pepin was crowded, but not excessively.  Food was served until 9 pm and drinks were about $5 each.  Cover charge is $8.

Please note that Pepin is a tricky place to find, especially now that there's construction work going on around it.  The easiest way is to look for the  Center for the Performing Arts. Pepin is directly across the way from the Center.

Very nice, friendly people at this club.  I recommend it.  Here's a few pictures:

Orquesta Salsarengue [http://www.orquestasalsarengue.com ] plays every Saturday at El Parador Mexican Restaurant [http://www.elparadortucson.com ]

El Parador is a huge, very nice restaurant, with plenty of seating and a dance floor that gets filled up quick.  Thankfully dancers are welcome to use the tiled areas as well.

Salsarengue plays Salsa, Merengue and Cumbias.  The crowd seems to know them well, and love them.

Cover charge was $7 on Cinco de Mayo.  I'm not sure it's the same every week.  Go early and get some dinner.  They stop serving at 9 pm --- we learned the hard way!

Here's some pictures of Salsarengue and the dancers at El Parador:
