CHALO Y SU ACHE - DANCING UNDER THE STARS AT PASEO COLORADO, PASADENA - Aug 4, 07
Chalo y su Ache performed Saturday night at the Promenade of the Paseo Colorado shopping village, as part of the 'Dancing under the Stars' program presented by the Pasadena Jazz Institute. The band sounded really good, the event was well attended, and Chuchito Valdez graced the band by joining it on stage for the last song of the evening.
The Pasadena Jazz Institute, which is upstairs, around the corner from PF Changs, opened its doors to all, free of charge, right after the performance, where The Afro Cuban Jazz Project, Chuchito Valdez for a song, and members of Chalo y su Ache band played until 1 am.
The Pasadena Jazz Institute has been at this location for about a year. It is a lovely venue that gave me a flashback to the Arturo Sandoval Jazz place in South Beach, Florida, the minute I walked in. It has a dining area right in front of the stage, an area in the back with plush couches, darts and pool tables, and an outdoor patio that makes a lovely place to smoke a cigar.
