THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS - CHINO ESPINOZA Y LOS DUENOS DEL SON /// SON
MAYOR - AT STEVENS STEAKHOUSE - September 14, 2008
It
was a friendly battle with weapons that exhaust you but do not kill.
Chino Espinoza y los Duenos del Son to the left, and Son Mayor to the
right, bounced back and forth the attention of the soldiers on foot,
which by 11 pm had the valet parking full to capacity - no more room for
anymore soldier's horses.
Chino Espinoza y los Duenos del
Son were dressed for the battle - their heads protected by helmets
(a.k.a. black brim fedoras). Son Mayor brought along a secret
weapon - the great conguero Poncho Sanchez.
Three songs at a time each, they
went on 'til the end of the night, and when it was over, everybody
picked up their weapons and went home. No blood anywhere... but we
all left behind some sweat.
