David and I went on Sunday to Prado Park in Chino for the 2007 Costa Rican Festival.
As I do every year, we had a couple of Costa Rican tamales, a couple of Imperiales (C.R. beer), and
saw the friends that I get to see only
at this event.
Chino Espinoza y los Duenos del Son played
around 4.30 pm, tired still from the night before when they played in
Palm Springs, but Chinito, true to his heritage, made it sound great. At the
end of their set we got to hear the song 'Maria', out of his upcoming CD
entitled the same (how cool is that for his wife!) and the song is beautiful.
The CD will be released on August 31st, at the next 'Secret Friday',
which soon enough we'll hear about from Dimelo Records.
The DJ afterwards played varied music, including a cumbia which lyrics
are
too hilarious. The clips below are from my compatriotas dancing to
it with el brinquito (the hop). My brother dances a mean Cumbia
just like them, but he hasn't taught me the hop yet. Shame on me.
