| The Cowboy Palace
Saloon is the preferred hangout of young people, older folks,
bikers, and honest to goodness cowboys! We found out about it in one of David's 'Road Trip' magazines, and decided to check it out this Sunday. The Saloon is located on 21635 Devonshire Street in Chatsworth, off the beautiful Topanga Canyon Road exit of the 118 highway. [I say 'beautiful' because the scenery is just gorgeous as soon as you get off the ramp.] As you go into the bar, the first thing you notice is the collection on the walls: old pairs of jeans, hats, boots, pictures of the rich and famous who've been there before you, deer antlers, etc.
The 5 pm class continues until 6 pm, and then the complimentary barbecue is served. Chicken, rice, beans, salad, flour tortillas, corn, salsa...it's a pretty good spread! And as you find a seat to enjoy your food, the band hired to perform gets ready on the stage. [This Sunday's band was Terry Hanson, heard in the clip below.] If you feel any affinity for Country, the Cowboy Palace is a place you have to see. The cowboys wear their hats proudly, the dancers wear the boots as must, the bikers wear their head gear and leather jackets, I even saw a West Coast Swinger logo out there. It is truly an eclectic party at the Saloon.
No cover charge. Complimentary barbecue. Beers around $4. Live music. Interesting people. An environment you won't forget of soon. I say it's a winner! Find out more about the bar at http://www.cowboypalace.com
