The Dimelo! Records Christmas Party at The Key Club, Dec 8th, 2006

That was fabulous! Congratulations to Nissim J. Baly, and the Dimelo! Records team for a job well done!

The Key Club on Sunset was already bursting as I walked in around 10.15 pm last Saturday.  La Charanga Cubana was already on the last song of their set.  Uniformed Marines stood and danced by the toy donation boxes.  The dance floor was packed with familiar faces.

As the evening progressed, Rogelio Moreno and its Salsabor y Cache performed to a combination of Salsa songs and the Mexican classic melody of El Rey ["...pero sigo siendo el Rey...".]  Then came Chino Espinoza y los Dueños del Son's set, the midnight confetti celebration, The Silk Sisters' performance, Tabaco y Ron's set, and an everybody-on-stage number [everybody meaning musicians and performance dancers] to close up the night.

The hours went by fast, because time flies when you're having fun!  It felt like a celebration.  It felt like the holidays.  At times dance space was tight, but... eh... just hug me closer!  ::wink::

It was totally fun!  And now here's the pictures...

And folks, like Chino said up on stage, and I could not agree more, support live music! ... and it is not about the Dimelo! Records bands only either, it's about:

Son Mayor,

Yari More,

Johnny Polanco,

Susie Hansen,

Fuego Latino,

Opa Opa,

Pete Escovedo,

Francisco Aguabella,

Rumbakete,

Orquesta Salsa Caliente,

Orquesta Melaza,

Octavio Figueroa,

Latin Sol,

La Charanga Cubana,

los Dueños del Son,

Tabaco y Ron,

and any other local talent that may escape me at the moment...

Without musicians there is no music... without music there is no dance... ::gasp!::

Support live music and the venues that promote them, so that events like the Dimelo! Records' events can continue to happen.

[end of soap box] heh  ;)

                    see you next weekend!   ~dena
