LA FARANDULA DE CUBA AT CLUB MIAMI, SAN DIEGO - 8/18/07

Since I was disappointed we did not see La Farandula de Cuba at their concert in L.A. last week, David and I drove to San Diego on Saturday to see them perform at Club Miami.  Just as we expected, La Farandula made us dance the night plenty.  Club Miami filled up nicely with people from everywhere (although I suspect the many Cubans present were, as ourselves, following the band.)

Club Miami is inside Club Rio (which used to be Mr. O's) and it is located at 1299 Camino del Rio S, San Diego, CA.  It has Salsa night on Saturdays, and I think on a regular week it is mostly a Central American/South American hangout.  There's a guest list available at http://www.sandiegosalsa.com/, otherwise cover charge is $10.  It has a good dance floor, good sound, and a crazy $20 VIP seat in the back, away from the stage, below the DJ booth, that seemed hardly worth the price, and was a thorn on the side of the DJ, who chased at least three groups of non-VIPs away from it throughout the night.  (That seat has to go!)  Other than that, Club Miami has free parking, a pool table, $27 buckets of beer (6 bottles), and no smoking area.

It was fun!  And La Farandula made it great!  Following are some pictures, unfortunately a bit affected by the perennial indoor 'fog'.
