"HABANA - A taste of Cuba" restaurant in San Diego

Further into our exploration of San Diego, we found the "Habana - A taste of Cuba" restaurant and its "Habana Nights" on Fridays from 7 pm to 10 pm.  The restaurant is located at 7777 University Ave, in La Mesa.  The "Habana Nights" consist of a small group of musicians playing Cuban classics in the bar area and people dancing wherever they find room more and more as the evening progresses.

Most Fridays, Manny Cepeda and his group Ritmo Caribe take care of the music.  However, the Friday we visited it was Emilio Alvarez y su Tres Cubano.

"Habana" is a nice restaurant.  The food is good.  The drinks start at $4.50 for a Cuba Libre.  There's a cigar garden and a few cigars for sale. (Their cigar prices are a little hiked up so you're better off bringing your own. And bring your own cutter because there is not one available to borrow - we had to bite ours open last night.  Major cigar no-no.)  The walls of the restaurant are decorated with gorgeous paintings.  The staff is friendly.  Emilio y su Tres Cubano was great to listen to.

All together a nice dinner experience that I am recommending for the next time your find yourself in San Diego on a Friday evening.
