Well, that was very nice.
Per the promoter, nine hundred and sixty two of us showed up Saturday night to see Ismael
Miranda perform. He has an awesome voice, really, and he sang all
the songs we were expecting to hear... 'Para componer un son', 'Maria
Luisa', and so on.
Good crowd. Appreciative people who
made a lot of noise for Miranda and requested their favorites.
Dimelo Records was in the house.
Tabaco Y Ron opened the night, and DJPedro El Sabroso spinned between
sets.
Kudos to the promoter, JC Ospina,
and all the folks that helped him, for a job well done.
I had fun. Danced a bit, said
hello to old friends, met a few new ones [hi Wendy!], enjoyed a whiskey
and a cigar, and listened to Miranda do what he has done for over 30
years, and obviously very well. Not a bad time at all!
The funniest part of the whole
thing, I have to say, was seeing the crowd outside Miranda's door at the
end of the show. People who held records to be signed, and cameras
ready to shoot. I thought they would let folks in, one by one.
Instead, the door suddenly opened and Miranda and a few
bodyguard-looking fellows stormed out of the room and out of the place,
never to be seen again. Gosh... it's so hard to be a celebrity! ha
ha. ;)
