IVY QUEEN AT THE CONGA ROOM - July 10, 2009

   "La Caballota" does walk onto the stage charged and full of presence as would a great mare.  With her strong voice, songs with messages that empower women and Latinos, and a few dancers to accompany her own steps, Ivy Queen made a large crowd at the Conga Room on Friday night jump and sing along with her.  The beautiful 37 year old Puerto Rican "Reina del Reggaeton" came out wearing a short skirt over patterned tights, blond hair down to her waist, and nails so long one could see them from a distance.  Her no nonsense persona was softened by a red paper fan she used playfully during her performance, as well as by the smiles and flirtatious looks she sent on the way of the male dancers on stage with her.
