The Grand Opening of "La Clave" with Charanga Cubana at Sabor Restaurante, in Glendale - March 6, 2009 Girls dancing on the bar always get all the attention, especially when they're dressed in tiny outfits and fishnet stockings. And so the La Clave dancers got plenty of it last night at the grand opening of the event at Sabor Restaurante, in Glendale, where Charanga Cubana performed, and DJ Suazo provided music during the sets. Being the first night of La Clave, all of the tables were reserved for dinner. That left a dance area in front of the band that at times became tight quarters. For next week, however, when Chino Espinoza y los Duenos del Son will perform, the management plans to remove some of the tables to allow for a larger dance space. The dinner crowd arrived around 8 pm, and a first show began at 9 pm. The dancing crowd began streaming in around 10.30 pm, in perfect time of the second show. A "happy new year" song -- that was really meant as a midnight toast -- happened obviously at 12 am when the La Clave dancers passed around horns and trinkets to the crowd, and confetti was thrown about the place. It was a lively ambiance for the first night of the series planned for the coming up weeks, which will also include performances by Johnny Polanco y Conjunto Amistad and Lucky 7.
