~by Dena Burroughs SALSA IN LAS VEGAS, NV - April 18th, 2008 Here's a couple of tested recommendations for the next time you visit Las Vegas.
ON FRIDAY Latin Breeze, [ http://www.latinbreeze.com ] the Latin band that played at the Gold Coast Casino for many years, is now on Friday nights at Club Armadillo, inside the Texas Station [ http://www.texasstation.com ]. Cover charge is $10 at the door. Club Armadillo is nice, there is no strict dress code, although more people dress up than not. The floor is nice, the sound is good, and Latin Breeze is fun to watch. One gripe: the management keeps the best booths "for sale," which means, you give them $100 FIRST, then you can consume $50 of it in drinks. The other $50 stay with the club for the privilege of sitting in their green booths. Needless to say, most booths are empty and people pack around the bar-stool areas only. Here's Latin Breeze in action: ON SATURDAY Havana Grill [ http://www.havanagrillcuban.com ] is a Cuban restaurant that also has live entertainment on Friday and Saturdays starting at 11 pm until 2 am. It is a good place to go for dinner and stay for dancing afterwards. **************************** The most updated website for Salsa in Las Vegas that I know of is http://www.salsae.org. [Although the hours shown in Salsae.org for music at Havana Grill are wrong. (I found out the hard way.) Please note that the music at Havana Grill does not start until 11 pm.] Aside from that, Salsae.org is a great Salsa resource for your next visit to Las Vegas.
