I checked out the Taumbu International Ensemble at the Museum of Latin American Art's free concert last Sunday.  I don't know how people find out about these events, but the place was packed! 

The group's performance was nice, a Creole song comes to mind right now, one Taumbu [the band leader is known by this name] explained is a song of thanks to a God for the harvest. 

All of the musicians were quite talented, but I send a special shout to Steve Smith on the trumpet, who made my 15 year old son actually say "I have to admit that trumpet player is pretty cool", and TRUST me!  to hear him say that is really something!
