MOLAA'S AFRO-LATINO HERITAGE FESTIVAL - February 10th, 2008

MOLAA (Museum of Latin American Art)'s third annual Afro-Latino Heritage Festival was held today.  It was a great family event, well attended, enjoyable, and educational.

We arrived in time to see the West African drum and dance group "Abiona," which was followed by a salsa performance by Peter Araiza and a few dancers from the group "Contra Tiempo."

"Cambalache Negro," a group playing Afro-Peruvian music, and its dancers, performed next, and the afternoon closed with "Sambala Samba Dance," a Brazilian dance and music band.

Just as interesting, the current exhibition "A bridge to the Americas," has, in the main gallery, about "25 works of art, one to four from each of the 19 Spanish/Portuguese speaking countries in the regions of Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean."  More about it at http://www.molaa.com

A visit to Molaa is much recommended.  Keep an eye open for its special events as they have them in a continuous basis.
