~by Dena Burroughs A NIGHT IN CUBA - AT THE MUSEUM OF LATIN AMERICAN ART - June 21st, 2008 The Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) threw a fabulous party Saturday evening, with the theme of Old Havana, in a night that offered food, drinks, cigars and the music of La Charanga Cubana. The hot evening's weather cooperated with the theme, and the outdoor dance floor, in the Museum's garden, was permanently packed with perspiring dancers, moving in all sorts of ways to the music, be it from the band or selected by DJ Saoco. This well supported event was part of several planned for the 2008 summer, during which MoLAA is focusing on the Latin Caribbean. Coming up on June 27th is a night of dancing to the music of DJ Saoco, free of charge, and a July 11th Rum Tasting event, with food, music and performances [please see VidaSalsera.com's main calendar for details]. Every entry into the events includes access to the art exhibits by Wifredo Lam and Carlos Luna. Following are pictures of the Night in Cuba event.
