~by Dena Burroughs DANCING UNDER THE STARS AT PASEO COLORADO - July 26, 2008 L.A. has a lot of tropical music lovers. The proof is in the pudding as they say - on a weekend with two heavily advertised events, one in Oxnard and another one in Palm Springs, there was still a ton of people left to dance to the music of Timbao at Paseo Colorado, in Pasadena. Hosted by the Pasadena Jazz Institute [ http://www.pasjazz.org ] Timbao was there as part of the Dancing Under the Stars summer series, which offers a free concert every Saturday from 7 pm to 10 pm during the months of July and August. Two of those Saturdays were set aside for Salsa, the next one coming up August 30th, when Sonolux will take the stage. In an environment that allows you to enjoy the music and also peruse at the Tommy Bahama store, admire a Coach purse, smoke a cigar at Ceniza up on the second floor, and enjoy any type of food you may want, the Dancing Under the Stars series is a winning choice. If you're planning to be there on August 30th, know that there is a dance floor on which you could use your pretty dance shoes, but once the dance floor is full your only choice will be concrete. Beer and wine are sold at the southeast corner of the dance floor. The drinks are to be consumed inside the black rope that surrounds the area. Taking the alcohol outside this area may cost you a fine. The price of the drinks supports the concert series, so drink up! It's for a good cause. :)
