A couple of months ago we went to the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve, in Lancaster, took a few pictures and posted them here. [http://www.vidasalsera.com/palmdale.htm

At that time only a few poppies were in bloom, so we made a note to go back in May, and we did, this Sunday.

It was hot, hot, hot in Lancaster.  The surest way to feel the temperature is up in the middle of a hike!  And the blanket of poppies was.... nowhere to be found.  The Park Volunteers told me that this year the grass took over and only a few flowers grew, in April, and by now they were gone.

It just so happened that, from the top of a hill, in the trail of a hike, we spotted an orang-ie area down below.  Once done with the hike, and with lunch, we drove in its direction.

The pictures below are from that cluster of poppies, ironically outside of the Poppy Reserve.  We got to see a good bunch of them after all.  It was pretty.

It is not worth going to the Poppy Reserve this year anymore though...  perhaps next.  But here's a few shots of what we saw today.
