PUERTO RICO
DAY 6 -
PINONES, EL YUNQUE, LUQUILLO BEACH, AND VICTOR MANUELLE AT THE FIESTAS
PATRONALES IN DORADO Victor Manuelle at the
Fiestas Patronales in Dorado! Twenty five minutes away from where
we're staying... at a park... and for free!! Talk about
anticipation, and a long wait because he wasn't scheduled to sing until
midnight. Thankfully there's more than plenty to be entertained
with in Puerto Rico, so we spent the day traveling through Piñones,
Luquillo (both the mountains and the beach), and visiting the U.S.
Caribbean National Forest, 'El Yunque'. Pinones
is about 15 minutes east of Isla Verde on the 187, in fact, here is
where El Balcon del Zumbador is at, so we had been in the area already,
but this time we went during the day, and enjoyed the view of an
ocean we couldn't see the time before. We had lunch at the
Waterfront Restaurant in Pinones and from there we drove east towards to El Yunque.
El Yunque was turned
into the Caribbean National Park about 30 years ago. It is a rain forest, quite pretty but rather
touristy, from which one can see the Luquillo beach down below.
Luquillo Beach is nice and not very crowded at all on a
Thursday. It takes a short time to tell the story, but a long
time to walk around and sightsee! We walked so much! So by the time we were done with
all the above it was time to go back to the room and get ready for
Victor Manuelle! Dorado's 'Fiestas Patronales'
were much busier than the ones at Guayama, in part because Guayama is a good hour away from the Isla Verde/San Juan area, and
Dorado is not even half of that. The reaction to Victor Manuelle
by the girls in Puerto Rico is exactly the same as anywhere else: they love him. The man is cute as a button, charming to no end,
and chats, flirts and plays with the audience all night long.
What a treat it was to see him! Even if
it was hot as heck in between all those girls!
Only in Puerto
Rico! PINONES, EL YUNQUE AND
LUQUILLO
