~by Dena Burroughs VICTOR MANUELLE IN LOS ANGELES - April 24th, 2008 The Quiet Cannon was packed on Thursday for the Victor Manuelle concert. By 10 pm the parking lot was full (I had to park five blocks away on Paseo St.) The line outside the ballroom was long and slow and it made no difference whether one had the ticket already or still needed to purchase one; the line was one for all. I suppose, however, that issues like these will come up when a concert is as crowded as this one was. There were a lot of people there for Victor Manuelle. He was as cute as we knew he would be, although I saw him mostly from far away. When I ventured closer by to take some pictures, I got literally shoved by a girl who thought I wanted her spot. "Do not push," I told her, just before she elbowed me on the side again. Her husband must be a saint. However, for every... (excuse my french)... biatch... there's a good woman like, in the noise of the room I heard, Pilar, who wanted to help me take pictures from where she stood. But I always have fun. I love these big concerts with all the good and bad elements of our people. It must have been a bit frustrating to the dancers, though, as there was no real space to dance, but I saw them making it happen anyhow. In such a big crowd, I found friends I had not seen in a while, like Jose, my dancer buddy from a decade ago in Giggles, and what seemed like half of all the Puerto Ricans in L.A.! At the end of the night a girlfriend drove me to my car, thank goodness! And we were both in great spirits. Victor Manuelle's concerts continued Friday in the Bay Area and Saturday in Las Vegas.
